Hi megas,

and welcome to our forum :)

I'm not sure if I understand you correct: your jOpenSim can not connect to the OpenSim database? Where do you use what wildcards?

Mostly the reason can be a missing user for the opensim database in the database server of OpenSim with the hostname of Joomla. E.g. if you use opensim@localhost inside your OpenSim server, you will need a duplicated user opensim@host-of-your-joomla to give it access to the database.

Another reason for connection failure might be limitations in the configuration of MySQL on the opensim database server side. Something like "skip-networking" or "bind 127.0.0.1" will make MySQL refusing any connections from outside.

Also to check is if the MySQL port (3306 by default) is opened for the Joomla server by the firewall of the OpenSim server.

I hope this helps

I also kept having connection problems like that at first. When I was using a wildcard (*) for the connection to the MySQL DB it would not connect. What worked for me was defining the exact IP of the web server the Joomla! site is on. MySQL can be very picky sometimes. Otherwise do you have a firewall that might be blocking the connection to the server?

Mind that in MySQL the * as wildcard does not exist. There % is used instead. So e.g. opensim@% would let MySQL accept the user "opensim" from any host. I do not recommend this way and not opening the MySQL port to world wide though as it is more or less an invitation for brute force attacs. The more you can keep your system closed inside and not opened to anywhere out, the more secure you will be :)

My bad, * should be % ;)

Just an advice for security reasons: dont make user@%, better make make .% (i know that IP is crab *g*) or user@%.dynamychostname.com instead to keep access possibilities strict.
